Professional Background
Born and raised in Reno, Maximilian A. Stovall is a dedicated attorney with deep roots in the Northern Nevada community. After graduating from Spanish Springs High School, Max earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Nevada, Reno. He then went on to graduate with honors from Mississippi College School of Law, where he earned an above full-ride scholarship and served as a teaching assistant in family law.
Max began his legal career clerking for both Judge Fair of the Mississippi Court of Appeals and the Judge David Hardy in Nevada. He then went on to serve as a Deputy District Attorney for Humboldt County where he gained extensive courtroom experience by appearing in court daily, trying many jury trials, appearing in countless bench trials and hearings, and managing over 600 active cases including all active misdemeanors and more than half the felonies.
In 2021, Max founded the Law Offices of Maximilian A. Stovall with offices in both Reno and Minden. He focuses primarily on criminal defense and family law, combining his litigation experience with a collaborative, client-first approach. Max is also contracted by Douglas County to provide criminal defense services for indigent defendants in Minden and Lake Tahoe. He has been named Family Law Lawyer of the Year through the Washoe County Lawyer in the Library program for 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Whether advocating for clients in complex felony cases or helping families navigate divorce and custody issues, Max is known for his integrity and results-driven strategy. He is proud to serve the communities he grew up in—and grateful to be closer to his family, church community, and the people who make Northern Nevada home.
